Scripted testing

Without test scripts it's nearly impossible to quantify what's been tested in an application. Scripted tests give you a repeatable test process, a known amount of test coverage, quantifyable results, and the ability to quickly bring new testers up to speed.

Exploratory testing

Test scripts are great for the reasons mentioned above, but they're also limiting. When testing to rigidly defined scripts, testers can miss defects that are not covered in the test scripts. For this reason exploratory testing, or ad-hoc testing is important.

Test coverage

A commonly supported approach involves mapping tests back to requirements. While this is an ideal approach it's often not feasible do to the absense of requirements, outdated requirements, or poorly written requirements. Qualify has addressed this issue by providing both the ability to map tests to requirements and a user interface. This provides test coverage assessment like you've never seen before.

Quantifyable results

Testing is only valuable if the results can be interpreted. Release readiness can quickly be determined by running test status reports in Qualify.

Maintainability

Keeping scripted test documentation up to date is critical to effective testing. As software changes, so must your scripts. Qualify takes a modular and intuitive approach to test case management that allows testers to quickly keep test assests up to date.
